The Werd is Deviant
The Word is Deviant was a sleazy, sinful and downright disgusting night of experimental cabaret. Connecting to campy 80s aesethtics as a backdrop, Deviant created a space to expose yourself to the weird, comedic and intimate insight to a few local local artists practice.
We hosted performances by Lorraine Smith, featuring her production ‘You Can Take me Home Toni’ of a merkin family. We had local artist Harry Fraser bring a experimental drag approach to the night with a dancing washing machine. To end the performances we had John James Perangie go from drink to drag, performing their personal routine of preparing to go out for a night out.
If that wasn’t enough deviancy for one night, we had the strange AI generating projections of local artist Peter Gough to welcome you the venue. Artist Gerg brought his broken-wired tech installations for people to interact with. To round off the night we had Abby Harris DJ as her persona of Shortcake Baby.
